The Parent Support Scholarship Program is a unique, year-long opportunity for NHCC students who are parenting. This initiative provides not only financial assistance but also a cohort-based support network- including resources, encouragement, and a sense of community helping you thrive academically while balancing your parenting responsibilities.

This scholarship is designed specifically for student-parents at North Hennepin Community College, offering both financial assistance for basic needs and a supportive cohort experience.
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a student-parent* currently enrolled at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC).
- Have NHCC has your home institution.
- Have one or more children
- Have two semesters remaining at NHCC
- Be registered for at least 6 credits each semester
- Be in good academic standing at NHCC
- Be willing and able to participate in the Parent Student Cohort
- Have not received a Bachelor’s Degree
- Be enrolled in a degree seeking program.
To maintain eligibility and receive the funding, students must:
- Attend at least one Parent Support Group session each month
- Meet with the Parent Navigator for a goal setting and goal review sessions as scheduled.
- Up to $5,000 total scholarship ($2,500 in Fall and $2,500 in Spring)
- Additional $450 per semester
- Ongoing academic and community support throughout the year
Maintaining eligibility throughout the year (including enrollment and participation requirements) is necessary to continue receiving the scholarship.
