Financial Aid FAQs
Students apply for federal and state aid programs by completing the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid).
Students who graduated from a Minnesota high school, but are not eligible to complete the FAFSA may be able to apply for state aid programs by completing the MN Dream Act application.
These financial aid applications must be completed once every school year. Scholarships are also available and require separate applications. Visit NHCC’s scholarship webpage to find out more about the NHCC Foundation scholarships and scholarships from other resources.
Information on a student’s financial aid application status and award offer will be communicated to them through their NHCC eServices account. Students login to eServices using their Start ID and password.
Once logged in, they will select Financial Aid. There will either be a link to an Aid Application Status Letter which will explain the additional items needed or a link to view the Financial Aid Award Notification which will show the financial aid awards offered.
Financial aid funds are applied to students’ tuition/fee balances starting the third week of the term*. Any financial aid funds received that exceed a student’s cost at the college will be refunded to the student afterwards through the refund preference the student set up with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution powered by BMTX, Inc.
*Financial aid funds cannot be released if the student has a financial aid suspension hold.
