The Science Resource Center offers supports to students so they can succeed in their biology, chemistry, computer science, and other science-related courses. Our goal is to help students become excellent scientific learners and enter their chosen fields with confidence.

Science Resource Center FAQs
Students can make appointments ahead of time to meet with a professional or peer tutor for a science-related course or can walk into the area to check for availability of drop-in appointments. Students will sign into the front desk (in the main tutoring area) and then be directed to the SRC (LRC 154). For zoom appointments, students will receive an email with the Zoom link of their tutor and will enter a waiting room on Zoom until their tutor lets them in.
Students can ask questions about tricky course topics, get help solving homework problems, or get advice on improving their learning skills for a science class. Students are also free to use the SRC and surrounding area as a place for independent or small group studying. Come with your study group and use what resources we have to offer!
Students are encouraged to come prepared for their tutoring sessions to be able to take charge of their own learning. Students should attend their classes, read through assigned materials, attempt as many homework problems as they can, and write down their questions. This is all to make sure that students are getting the most out of their appointments. We are happy to meet students where they’re at and will encourage them to form stronger study habits if that is a necessary part of the collaborative learning process for them.
Students who want to have small group tutoring sessions are encouraged to speak to the tutoring front desk about their options. Small group tutoring sessions are available when booked in advance and at the discretion of the tutor.
Staff members of both the SRC and MRC can help students who are studying for the nursing TEAS tests. For general Nursing tutoring, faculty tutoring may be available. Check with the front desk or call 763-424-0927 or email tutoring@nhcc.edu.
For in-person resources, we offer access to physical copies of textbooks for many of the science courses offered on-campus. We also offer chemical models for students studying VSEPR model theory and DNA models for students studying DNA replication/transcription/translation. Resources stay in the SRC to guarantee they remain available to all students.
