September is Student Parent Month!

September is National Student Parent Month, a time to recognize and celebrate students who are pursuing their educational goals while raising and caring for their families. First nationally recognized by the U.S. Senate in 2021, Student Parent Month helps bring attention to the experiences, strengths, and contributions of parenting students, and the importance of ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive. Nearly 1 in 5 undergraduate students in the United States is also raising children, making student parents an important part of our college community.

This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and determination of student parents who are balancing classes, caregiving, and their education every single day.

To all the student parents out there- you are seen, you are valued, and you inspire us!

Pregnancy, Title IX & Academic Support

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities including academic, educational, extracurricular, athletic and other programs or activities in school. This includes a prohibition of discrimination against pregnant and parenting students.

Visit our Pregnant and Parenting Student Accommodations webpage to learn more about parenting and pregnancy support through Title IX.

You do not have to figure out the process alone.

If you are not sure who to contact about a pregnancy-related concern or parenting resource, the CARE Center can help connect you with the appropriate campus resource.
