1. NHCC is Affordable.

Cost Per Year FY23

North Hennepin Community College is among the most affordable college options available to your student and offers a high return on investment.

If your student is considering getting a bachelor's degree, starting at NHCC and transferring to a university can save thousands of dollars.

Scholarships are another reason NHCC is so affordable. In 2021, NHCC awarded students more than $284,000 in scholarships. Students can complete one application to be eligible for awards of $250-5,000. Scholarships are essentially free money that doesn't have to be paid back.

2. PSEO at NHCC is an opportunity for your high school student to earn college credits at no cost.

Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) is a great opportunity for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn transferrable college credits, while in high school, at no cost. Whether or not PSEO students decide to continue their education at NHCC, they'll have the opportunity to explore their interests and get a feel for college before committing to a college and a major.

3. NHCC has 70+ degree and certificate programs, many of which are designed to transfer.

Why is this important? At NHCC, students have degree options to match their career interests, and the opportunity to explore their interests in an affordable environment. NHCC has 18 transfer pathway programs, which are designed to transfer seamlessly to Minnesota State universities.

Many students at NHCC choose to complete their general education courses before transferring to earn their bachelor's degree. Not only does this option result in saving on tuition, but during their time at NHCC, students can work with an academic advisor to plan their education and career. Working with an academic advisor can be extremely beneficial, regardless of whether a student is planning to transfer to a bachelor's program.

When looking for a new job after earning a degree, having relevant experience can give students an edge in the marketplace. NHCC has a paid internship program called the Xperience Project, which allows students to earn a good wage, while gaining experience that relates to their academic degree.
