Meet the Parent Navigators
To support students who are pregnant and/or parenting, Minnesota State Colleges- including NHCC- are required to have a dedicated Parent Navigator on campus. This important role is mandated by state policy to ensure you have a knowledgeable caring guide who connects you with the resources and help you need to success both academically and as a parent.
What does a Parent Navigator Do?
The Parent Navigator is your go-to person for information about campus and community support services tailored for parenting students. They provide guidance on a wide range of resources and help you navigate any challenges related to pregnancy, parenting, or family responsibilities while you pursue your education.
Navigators provide a “warm handoff” to campus and community contact with knowledge in the following areas:
- Medical and behavioral health coverage and services
- Public benefit programs related to food security
- Affordable housing and housing subsidies
- Parenting and childcare resources
- Employment assistance
- Transportation assistance
- Institutional resources including academic support
