Start at North Hennepin Community College, save on your first two years, transfer to a university, and graduate with the same bachelor’s degree.
Start Here. Save Thousands. Finish Strong.
There's a smarter path to your bachelor's degree, and it starts at North Hennepin Community College.
Starting at NHCC vs. Starting at a University
- Begin with lower-cost general education classes
- Earn your associate degree after two years
- Transfer to a university to complete your bachelor’s
- Graduate with the same degree and less debt
The NHCC Path:
When you start at NHCC, you'll save money because NHCC's tuition is significantly lower than a four-year university. Along with completing your required general courses, you can explore your interests with elective courses.
You'll earn your associate degree when you're halfway to your bachelor's degree. Whether you transfer or not, having your associate degree will give you more options in your career. If you decide to transfer, you'll get the same bachelor's degree you would have got if you started at a university and paid more the whole time.
Here's an Example:
The University of Minnesota lists $620.50 per credit on their website.
NHCC's tuition is $218.48 per credit.
An associate degree is 60 credits.
60 credits x $620.50 (University of Minnesota) = $37,230
60 credits x $218.48 (NHCC) = $13,108
Tuition savings starting at NHCC = $24,122
- Pay higher tuition from day one
- No credential after the first two years
- Complete your bachelor’s over four years
- Higher overall cost
The University Path:
Starting directly at a four-year university means paying higher tuition from the start. And at the two-year mark, you'd have coursework completed, but no degree to show for it. You'll finish with the same bachelor's degree either way, but when you start at a university, you pay significantly more than if you had started at NHCC.
