You have a commanding physical presence and are not afraid to speak up when something goes wrong. You’ve seen enough injustice in this world and are ready to help make things right. In an emergency, you would take a risk to save somebody else and you do not want to work in an office where the same thing happens every day. You are resilient and committed.

The Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement programs at North Hennepin Community College are designed for those who want to begin careers as police officers, sheriff’s deputies, security personnel in private business or government, or correctional officers. At NHCC, you can prepare for a variety of entry-level positions in state, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies. Many of our graduates end up working right here in the Twin Cities as patrol officers, responding to calls that include loud parties, shoplifting, theft-from-auto, heart attacks, and car crashes.

The Criminal Justice AS degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution before launching their careers. The Law Enforcement AS degree requires completion of professional licensing core courses and permits more rapid entry into the profession. The Corrections AS degree prepares students for entry-level positions in correctional facilities, while the Corrections Certificate provides an introduction to various careers in the field of corrections.
