For men of color to succeed, we must work to remove the systemic barriers that limit their growth in academia and the workforce. Brother 2 Brother (B2B) believes that mentorship is a key component to tackling those barriers and creating successful pathways to higher education and fulfilling careers. Through B2B’s mentorship and guidance, young men of color work together and support each other as they realize and actualize their fullest potential.
What is Brother 2 Brother?
Brother 2 Brother (B2B) is research proven national initiative that provides systems to support young men of color who embark upon and complete post-secondary education. B2B advances this cause through a host of methods including scholarships, coaching, tutoring, training, guidance, and weekly check-in meetings to name a few. It is NHCC and B2B hope to ensure that people of all backgrounds earn the skills and credentials required to have satisfying lives and well-paying careers.
Increasingly, we recognize this is not enough. There is a critical need to provide the encouragement, guidance, and social support needed to define, pursue, and complete higher education objectives and that is what B2B does. B2B is a culturally sensitive and a research-proven initiative designed to address the needs of males of color given the alarming national data involving these students academically/educationally. B2B does not discriminate, or limit membership based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other traditional primary diversity dimensions that would typically exclude others. All B2B meetings are open to the public regardless of their existence on a public or private campus. Thank you for your interest in this initiative.
