Why You Should Apply
- One application is all it takes to be considered for 120+ scholarships
- Scholarships range from $500–$5,000
- If you get a $1000 scholarship and it takes two hours to apply, that's $500 per hour!
How to Apply
- Step 1: Apply to NHCC → you'll receive a StarID
- Step 2: Use your StarID to access the scholarship application
- Step 3: Complete your essays and submit
The deadline to apply is May 15, 2026 at 4:30 PM CST.

Basic Eligibility Requirements
- You need a minimum 2.0 GPA from your high school or previous college
- You need to enroll in a minimum of six credits at NHCC in fall semester and spring semester
Tips for Writing Strong Essays
🎯 Answer the actual question: Read each prompt carefully and make sure your response directly addresses what's being asked.
✏️ Check your grammar and spelling: A polished essay signals effort and care. Read your responses out loud or use a spell-checker before submitting.
💬 Collaborate with AI: As a prospective student, you won't have access to the NHCC Writing Center just yet, but AI tools can be a great stand-in. Share a draft and ask for feedback on clarity, tone, and structure. Just make sure the final voice is yours.
💡Be specific and personal: The essays that stand out share real details, like a specific goal, a challenge you've overcome, or why a particular field matters to you.
🔄 Revise at least once: Your first draft is a starting point. Give it a day, come back with fresh eyes, and tighten it up before you submit.
