WELLNESS WEEK

The Amazing Wellness Race

Date: October 21st & and 22nd

Time: 10am-1pm

Location: LRC/ES/BHCC Hallway

The Care Center and Student Life are partnering with the College Agency to highlight mental health and wellness. The Amazing Wellness Race (TAWR) is not your typical race, it's an immersive wellness experience designed to promote mental health, self-discovery, and overall well-being. Unlike traditional mental health fairs, TAWR offers up to 8 engaging stations, plus a Start and Finish Line, with activities focusing on mental and physical wellness. The Amazing Wellness Race is not about speed or victory; it is about embracing each moment, fostering self-care, and supporting one another.

Care Center Meet and Greet Breakfast

Date: October 20th

Time: 9am-11:30am

Location: ES/LRC/BHCC Crossway

Come meet the Care Center Team and discover the wide range of basic needs and mental health resources available to NHCC students. Enjoy some delicious breakfast treats while you learn how we can support your well-being and success!

Housing Workshop Series

Date: September 25th 

Time: 1:00pm-2:00pm

Location: CBT 169

Join the CARE Center and Paralegal Student Association for an informative housing workshop with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and HousingLink. This session will explore legal resources and information about evictions, housing laws every renter should know, and community resources available to support renters.

Three Rivers Park District Partnership Events

The CARE Center and Student Life Department are partnering with the Three Rivers Park District to bring you outdoor events, activities, and workshops! These are FREE! No experience or equipment needed. Lunch and transportation will be provided.

Event 1: Friday, October 3rd, 10:00am-2:00pm, Paddling at Fish Lake

Event 2: Friday, October 17th 10:00am-2:00pm, Campfire’s and Wellness Walks at Eastman Nature Center

Event 3: Friday, October 31st, 10:00am-2:00pm, Art Based Activities at Silverwood Park

Nourish and Flourish Food Drive Event

Date: Thursday, November 20th 

Time: 10:30am-1:00pm

Location: Campus Center

We invite you to join us for this year’s Nourish & Flourish Food Drive Event! This is our annual campus food drive competition event (formerly know as Thanks A Ton) to support the NHCC Food Cupboard. This year’s theme is nutrition, wellness, and community. We will be collecting highly requested items to help stock the Food Cupboard for our students and community members in need.

How Can You Participate? 

  • Online Monetary Donations can be made at this link. For Every dollar, one-half pound will count towards your donation (Example $100 = 50 lbs.)
  • Non-Perishable Donations: Please bring non-perishable donations to the event in the Campus Center on Thursday November 20th from 10:30am-1:00pm! We have included a list of highly requested items. Please check back for details. 

As always, prizes will be awarded to both the winning club/organization and the winning department with the most contributions- so gather your teams and bring your competitive spirit!!

Smaller departments (5 people or less) are welcome to team up with another department to combine efforts. Please indicate your combined team when you drop off your donations.

In addition to the Food Drive, we will also be featuring activities and resources focused on wellness and community as we head into the holiday season!

What Else is Happening on November 20th?

  • Nutrition & Wellness Activities, led by Nick, our Rec & Wellness Director
  • Clothing Swap- refresh your wardrobe and prepare for the winter months
  • SNAP Information Table hosted by Wellspring Second Chance Center
  • Giving Tree Information- learn how you can join in on supporting our Parenting Students during the holidays.

CARE Center Support Groups

Academic Success Group

We are an Academic Support group that strives to help students gain confidence in their academic pursuits. In our weekly group we will have a short 5-10 minutes skills training, 30 minutes to study together as a group or individually, and time to meet with fellow students for accountability. At the end of every meeting we will have drawings for prizes including gift cards and campus merch! We will also have snacks and refreshments at every meeting.

When: Thursdays 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Parent Support Group

Our parent support group meets multiple times a month. Please check the school calendar for specific days and times. The support group is facilitated by the Parent Navigator and is open to all parenting students. The group is there for parenting students to learn about tips, tricks, and resources as well as to build a community with other parenting students.

First-Gen Voices

A Peer Support group for Community College students. The purpose of this support group is to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for first-generation college students to share experiences, build community, and access peer and institutional support.
