New Mental Health Peace Ritual Series Launching with The CARE Center and the Department of Diversity. The Peace Ritual Series will offer various experiential workshops to support students and staff with emotional processing strategies.
October 4th 2-3:30pm, Interfaith Candlelight Vigil for Mental Illness recovery & understanding Location: Black Box Theater, Campus Center Room 242 This event, known as the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding Interfaith Candlelight Vigil, is part of a nationwide week devoted to mental illness awareness. The purpose is to help reduce the stigma for people with mental illness. Led by Counselor, Samantha Schendzielos in collaboration with DEI.
October 25th 2-3:30pm, Sip and Reflect Location: NHCC's Tessman Greenhouse Join Johanna Gangl, Mental Health Therapist from NHCC’s CARE Center, along with the DEI department, for the second session in a series of experiential workshops that present ways to engage in emotional processing and seek peace. Sip and Reflect will be a sensory experience designed to unplug from digital demands and lean into ourselves and our surroundings. Tea will be served with a guided reflection exercise to follow.
November 15th 2-3:30pm, Sound Bath Location: NHCC Health and Wellness Center, Yoga Studio Room 167 Special guest, Melissa Beetoe, owner of Becoming (Maple Grove), will lead this event. A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle, yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture your mind along with your body. This is the third and final session in our Peace Ritual Series; which was created to present ways to seek peace and engage in emotional processing. These experiences were made possible through a collaboration between NHCC’s CARE Center and DEI department.
