NHCC is proud to announce that its Tutoring Center has achieved an international certification from the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA), recognizing the program’s commitment to high-quality academic support and student success.

NHCC’s Peer Tutoring Center serves as a vital resource for students, offering free, peer-led academic assistance across a wide range of subjects. Each semester, the program employs a team of 10 to 14 peer tutors, all of whom meet rigorous qualifications. Tutors must have successfully completed the course they tutor, maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA, and submit a written faculty recommendation. In addition, every tutor completes at least 10 hours of mandatory training, ensuring they are equipped with proven strategies to help students thrive.

“This certification reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive and effective learning environment,” said Elisha Little, Peer Tutoring Program Coordinator. “Our tutors play a vital role in supporting students, and this recognition ensures that we are following best practices in the field.”

The CRLA certification validates that NHCC’s Peer Tutoring Program meets internationally recognized standards for tutor training, program management, and student engagement. This achievement underscores NHCC’s commitment to empowering students and fostering academic success.
