NHCC invites the public to its Winter Concert Series December 5 through December 10, 2025. Suggested admission is $10. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. All events will be held in the Fine Arts Center Theatre (FAC 178).
NHCC Choral and Vocal Concert: Inner Space
Friday, December 5, 7:30 p.m.
NHCC Vocal and Choral Departments present “Inner Space,” a concert about the interior landscapes of the mind and heart under the direction of Gary Ruschman. Enjoy choral music and solos by Guilio Caccini, Antonio Lotti, HIldegard von Bingen, Mumford and Sons, Hem, and Twin Cities composers Elizabeth Alexander and Linda Kachelmeier, along with cello soloist Sally Dorer. Stay for a reception and caroling following the concert! The event will also be available via live stream.
NHCC Orchestra Concert: Summon the Heroes
Monday, December 8, 7:30 p.m.
The NHCC Community Orchestra presents “Summon the Heroes,” performing music that is heroic in nature and familiar to audience members. Music includes the theme song for the upcoming Winter Olympics in February 2026. This piece will be dedicated to the John Hoffman family, who faced danger in June of this year. Peter and the Wolf has instruments in the orchestra portraying the characters of the classic story. Beethoven's seventh symphony second movement is a piece that will be dedicated to the memory of Melissa and Mark Hortman. The concert concludes with the triumphant Berceuse and Finale. NHCC Jazz Ensemble Concert: Funkified!
Tuesday, December 9, 7:30 p.m.
NHCC Jazz Ensemble presents “Funkified!”, directed by David Mantini, a celebration of all that is FUNK with a small sprinkling of swing. From James Brown to Tower of Power and a little bit of everything else, you won't be able to stay in yours seats as you Ease on Down the Road with us. NHCC Concert Band presents “Tapestry,” directed by David Mantini, a collage of pieces exploring concepts of self, space and season. Experience the majesty of Cathedral Mountain, the rhythms of the Red River Railroad, the Journey of a Comet, and finally, with many stops along the way, the promise of the Statue of Liberty.
