NHCC's Math Club has many exciting events scheduled in April as they celebrate “Mathematics and Hope” Month.

Colloquium 

When: Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Refreshments at 3:30 p.m., Discussion at 4:00 p.m. 

Where: (CLA 120)

The NHCC Math Club invites you to listen to guest speaker, Retired Chief Actuary for International Accounting Firm, Dr. Charles Talbert’s presentation. Dr. Charles Talbert (pictured below) will provide insight into the world of statistics and actuarial professions. Everyone is welcome!

Math Club Fun Night

When: Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 3:45 p.m. 

Where: NHCC BlackBox Theater (CC 242)

 Come join the NHCC Math Club for a fun activity featuring the movie, Moneyball. Popcorn is provided, and there will be a 30-minute discussion afterward. Everyone is welcome! 

A “math”ing Race

When: Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. 

Join the NHCC Math Club as they run around the college solving for clues and crossing the finish line. A team of four students will encounter roadblocks, and a detour might help! The winner will get a pizza party for the class, thanks to Cengage!! Everyone is welcome, students from any program, including NHCC staff and faculty. Students and/or employees can sign up NOW outside math faculty, David Liew’s office at CLA 203. All you need to sign up is a group name and at most four people in your team from either the same class, club, department, or subject. 

Blackjack Game Night

When: Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. 

Where: (CBT 160)

Blackjack Game Night is back due to popular demand! Card counting? Stay or hit? Come raise your bet and your luck! (No money is used; just candies).
