The season of giving is here, and one of NHCC's most meaningful traditions is back.

Formerly known as Thanks-A-Ton and Piece of Pie, the Nourish & Flourish Food Drive supports the NHCC Food Cupboard and the students who rely on it. This year, the campus community is working toward an ambitious goal: collecting 6,000 pounds of food and monetary donations in celebration of NHCC's 60th anniversary.

By participating, you'll help provide food and everyday essentials for students while strengthening the caring, supportive community that makes NHCC special.

Nourish & Flourish Event Schedule

Date: Thursday, November 19, 2026

Time: 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Location: Campus Center Cafeteria

How to Participate

Donate Nonperishable Food Items

Bring donations to the Campus Center during the event. View the Food Drive Shopping List for both standard and high-priority items needed by the Food Cupboard.

Make a Monetary Donation

Monetary gifts help the Food Cupboard purchase frequently requested items throughout the year. Every dollar donated counts as one-half pound toward the event total.

Ways to give:

  • Donate online. If you're participating in the campus competition, be sure to enter your club, department, or team name. Recurring gifts will be counted through June 30, 2027.
  • Give by cash or check. Before the event, bring cash or a check to the NHCC Foundation office in Educational Services, Room 10.
  • Donate during the event. Bring your contribution to the Campus Center on November 19 and join the day's activities.

Friendly Campus Competition

A little friendly competition helps make a big impact.

Prizes will be awarded to:

  • The top student club or organization
  • The top campus department

Departments with five or fewer employees are welcome to team up with another department and compete together. Simply use your combined team name when making or dropping off donations.

To add to the challenge, selecting high-priority items from the shopping list will count double toward competition totals.

Last Year's Champions

Top Campus Department
Campus Center (including DEI, TRIO, Student Life, and Brisbane's)
1,498.9 pounds donated

Top Student Club or Organization
Student Nursing Association
385.8 pounds donated

Will last year's champions defend their titles, or will a new department or student organization take the top spot?

More Than a Food Drive

Giving Tree: Support Parenting Students This Holiday Season

Looking for another way to help?

Visit the Giving Tree table during the event to pick up a Giving Tree card. By purchasing gifts for a child of an NHCC parenting student, you can help ease financial stress during the holiday season and make this time of year a little brighter for a student and their family.

Student and Alumni Perspectives

The impact of the NHCC Food Cupboard extends far beyond a single meal.

"Without the support from another student showing me the Food Cupboard, I would have dropped out from NHCC. I was struggling with the decision to buy food or pay for tuition. Not only that, but I could also get toilet paper, hand soap, toothpaste. I never thought I would be so thankful for hand soap."— NHCC alum

"It's amazing to see everyone come together and see the amount of goods that we collect. A little competition helps! I encourage clubs and organization leaders to compete, too. The food drive brings everyone together and creates awareness for the campus and ways to support students. The Food Cupboard helped me, and I enjoy giving back."— Melissa S-H., NHCC alumna

"While competition brings energy and excitement, the true victory lies in the quiet relief felt by students who find nourishment through our campus food cupboard. As someone who has experienced that comfort firsthand, I know this resource can make the difference between going hungry and finding hope."— Teresa K., NHCC alumna
