Student Life and Student Senate hosts an annual banquet in the spring. This year's theme is Ebony & Ivory, and we're accepting nominations for various awards in different areas: Academics, Leadership, Employee recognition, and more! A formal invitation will go to NHCC leadership, Student Clubs and Orgs, and my personal favorite, the award recipients!
At North Hennepin Community College, leadership happens everywhere. It’s in the quiet persistence of a student overcoming obstacles, the energy of a club officer revitalizing a campus program, and the reliability of a student employee who keeps our departments running smoothly.
Now is the time to make sure those efforts don't go unnoticed. Nominations for the 2026 Student Life Awards are officially open!
Which Category Fits You or Your Nominee?
We have several categories this year designed to celebrate every corner of our campus:
- The Big Honors: Including Student of the Year, Faculty/Staff Member of the Year, and Athlete of the Year.
- Club & Org Excellence: Recognizing the Officers, Advisors, Members, and Programs that make our campus vibrant.
- The Resiliency Award: This special honor goes to a student who embodies grit and determination, overcoming significant challenges to pursue their goals at NHCC.
- Student Employee Excellence: A chance for supervisors to highlight the reliability, initiative, and professionalism of our student workforce across departments like the CARE Center, Student Life, Public Safety, and Admissions.
- Programs of the Year: Celebrating events and programs that foster inclusion, collaboration, and growth in engagement on our campus.
How is this different from the Exceptional Leadership Award?
It’s important to note how these awards differ from the Exceptional Leadership Award Nominations we accepted last fall (and again this spring). While the leadership award recognizes involvement with a scholarship-like award, the Student Life Annual Awards are a broader community celebration. This spring, we are opening the nominations to recognize not only our incredible students but also the dedicated staff and faculty who power our campus. Winners of these awards will receive a formal certificate, a physical trophy, and an exclusive invitation to our upcoming Awards Banquet in April. It’s more about capturing that moment of public recognition and celebrating our collective success together at the end of the year.
Deadline: 4:30 p.m., March 16, 2026. Mark your calendars and set your reminders. Once the clock hits 4:30 p.m., the portal closes!
