International Women's Day 2024 flyer

Please join us for the 2nd Annual International Women’s Day Celebration on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 3-7:30 p.m. in the NHCC Grand Hall (CBT 195) featuring keynote speaker and cybersecurity engineer, Ilhan Jama!

This is going to be an empowering and inspiring affair!!! Guests will experience a motivating speaker, an Empowerment Resource Fair, FREE food, a multicultural fashion show AND more!

Event Schedule:


2:45-3 pm: Check-in and Networking (enter CBT at Door 12)
3-3:45 pm: Keynote Speaker – Ilhan Jama 
3:45-4 pm: Break (at 3:45 the Empowerment Resource Fair opens)
4-4:45 pm: Guests choice: Q&A w/ Ilhan or PeriodKitsMN Service Project (appetizers served at 4:45)
5-7 pm: Dinner and Empowerment Resource Fair
6-7 pm: Multicultural Fashion Show
7-7:30 pm: Post-Show Meet & Greet with Fashion Designers/Models and Art Club Volunteers 

Admission is FREE!! Folks are not obligated to attend the entire event. Registration before the event is highly recommended.

We will be collecting donations of UNOPENED feminine products. All donations will be collected for distribution through Period Kits MN. There will be an opportunity during the event to make period kits to donate to NHCC’s Food Cupboard and other local organizations.

Keynote Speaker, Ilhan Jama’s Bio:

Ilhan Jama is a cybersecurity engineer, content creator, and the founder of Unlearningx. She's passionate about creating accessibility to the tech industry, as well as breaking down barriers to entry. Driven by the ethos of 'unlearning to relearn,' Ilhan's commitment to community-building and mentorship makes her a key figure in shaping an accessible and inclusive future of technology.

Wealth was also one of our featured fashion show designers, alongside former NHCC student, Annais Loko (pictured below), CEO of Sianna Fashion.

The Beyond Boundaries: A Multicultural Mosaic Fashion Show will feature the designs of Wealth and Annais, with a segment highlighting cultural outfits as well. The fashion show production was organized by NHCC students and supported by volunteers.

Additional Information:

Women’s History Month (March) was designated by a presidential proclamation to honor women’s contributions to American history. Since 1911, International Women’s Day (March 8) has remained a global day for celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements, while calling to action - everyone, everywhere - in accelerating women’s equality.
