Financial Aid Application Process
Students must apply for aid each year. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming year is available January 1.
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). NHCC's school code is 002370.
-
Review your FAFSA application and provide additional information if requested.
- Receive your award notice.
- Apply for loans and/or student employment if needed. (NHCC's loan application process changed beginning with summer 2010 loans. Please see the additional information available via the loan link.)
-
Activate your NHCC Higher One debit card and receive your financial aid disbursement. During fall or spring, aid disbursement begins during the third week of the semester. During summer, aid disbursement begins the third week of July.
It is very important to apply early. NHCC's priority aid application deadline is April 15th. Students who complete their file by the priority deadline are given first consideration for SEOG grants, student employment, and Perkins loans for the following academic year.
-
MN State Grant deadline - the Federal processor must receive your FAFSA no later than 30 days after the start of the semester. If your FAFSA is received after the MN State Grant deadline, you will not be eligible for MN grant for that semester.
-
Pell Grant deadline - you must be registered for all classes by the Pell Grant enrollment date. Registration after this date does not increase Pell award amounts.
