  • Frequently Asked Questions

What is a virtual care visit?

A virtual care visit allows you to address your healthcare needs with your Fairview NHCC Clinic provider using technology. Virtual visits are over the phone or through video chat based on your situation and condition.

How do I schedule a virtual visit?

Virtual visits must be scheduled by calling Fairview's NHCC Clinic scheduling line at 612-336-2695.

Can I schedule an in-person visit at the Fairview NHCC Clinic?

No, currently we are not allowing in-person visits at the NHCC Clinic. If you prefer to be seen in-person, you can schedule a visit at any one of the Fairview locations by calling 1-855-324-7843.

Please note: all visits to other Fairview sites are subject to your health plan deductible.

What will a Fairview NHCC Clinic virtual care visit cost?

There is no cost to students when using the Fairview NHCC Clinic for a virtual visit.

How does a virtual care visit work?

When scheduling, it will be determined whether a phone call or video chat is most appropriate for your situation. You will be contacted before your appointment to confirm arrangements. If a video chat is required, you may need to download software on your device.  If so, you will be assisted in doing this from the Fairview Clinic staff during your call.

    • 15 to 30 minutes before your appointment, you will receive a Medical Assistant (MA) to update your patient information and prepare you for your upcoming appointment.

    • At the time of your appointment, the Provider will contact you via phone or video and address your reason for the visit.

    • The Provider or MA will help coordinate any additional services (i.e. labs, medications, follow-up visits) during your virtual visit.

    What if labs are needed?

During the on-site clinic closure at NHCC, all lab draws will take place during NHCC clinic hours at   Fairview Brooklyn Park Clinic.  If your provider determines that laboratory testing is needed, you have two options to schedule your labs:

Option 1: you may coordinate scheduling with the provider or Medical Assistant (MA) at the conclusion of your virtual visit.

Option 2: you may call 612-336-2695 to schedule your laboratory testing at Fairview Brooklyn Park.

As always, all lab services offered within the scope of the onsite clinic are at no-cost to students.

    What if I need medications?

Medications will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice. All medications are subject to your health plan deductible.

When will the clinic reopen for full services?

We hope to reopen as soon as possible but are conscious of your safety and ours. We will continue to monitor the community guidelines and situation at hand and provide updated communication with any changes.
