Establishing a Club or Organization

Guidelines for Non-Chartered Organizations

  1. Students wishing to establish a non-chartered group need to submit a completed Application for Non-Chartered Organizations Forms to the Student Life Desk (Donna Hinrichs). Required information includes:

    • Organization's name
    • Purpose statement
    • Name of advisor (must be a current employee of NHCC)
    • Primary student contact person
    • List of student members (must be currently enrolled at NHCC)

  3. A representative of a non-chartered organization is required to meet with Student Life (Donna Hinrichs) each semester.
  4. Non-chartered organizations may request funding by submitting a completed funding request to the Student Life Desk (Donna Hinrichs)
  5. Ensure that all meetings, programs, services, activities, and the materials associated with them are accessible for all students. If you have any questions, please contact Disability Access Services.

Guidelines for Chartered Organizations

  1. Students interested in establishing a chartered organization must complete and submit two copies of the Application for Chartered Organizations Form - one copy for the Student Senate and one copy to the Student Life Desk (Donna Hinrichs). Required information includes:
    • Organization's name
    • Purpose statement
    • Ideas or activities to support the organization's purpose
    • Proposed budget
    • Meeting frequency or schedule
    • Name of advisor (must be a current employee of NHCC)
    • Primary student contact person
    • List of student members (must be currently enrolled at NHCC and in good academic standing, officers must have at least a 2.0 GPA)

  2. An organization seeking recognition as official is required to place their request on the Student Senate agenda and present their proposal.
  3. Once established, chartered organizations are required to:
    • Have a representative attend all Student Senate meetings. Advisors are not required, but encouraged to attend.
    • Submit meeting minutes and a semester report to the Student Senate and to Student Life.
    • To recieve funding for the following year, submit a report of the previous year's activities and a budget plan for the upcoming year to the Student Senate and to Student Life, by April of each year.
