The International Student Advisor is able to provide current international students in 'F-1 Status' (or F-1 students for short) with information about many immigration-related and institutional questions including:

  • How to maintain F-1 Status
  • How to apply for Optional Practical Training
  • How to apply for Off-Campus Employment Authorization based on Severe Economic Hardship
  • How to satisfy the MnSCU International Insurance requirement
  • The process for securing on-campus work or institutional scholarships
  • What documents are needed to re-enter the United States after traveling abroad
  • What documents are needed to apply for a Social Security Number
