Probation/Suspension Advising

The Bridge to Academic Success Program (BTAS) provides support services to students on Academic Probation and/or Academic Suspension. The program is designed to help meet students' educational goals.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students of NHCC are expected to maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and a cumulative 67% completion rate, in accordance with the College Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy

Students on Academic Probation

Students on academic probation are required to participate in the BTAS program. While on academic probation, it is strongly recommended that a student attend student success workshops, as well as, have individual meetings with a counselor/advisor. These interventions will help the student to identify specific barriers to success and learn how to overcome them.

Students on Academic Suspension

Students on academic suspension must file and have an approved Academic Suspension Appeal, in order to be reinstated as a student.  Completing the appeal includes filling out an Academic Improvement Plan.  Make sure to read and follow directions carefully, and turn in your completed appeal (with documentation) to the Counseling & Advising office (ES 69).  If your appeal is approved, you will be asked to meet with a counselor/advisor who will review your academic record, including placement scores/levels for math, reading and writing; provide guidance for course selection; identify strategies for success; and review the terms of your appeal with you.

Students on academic suspension that are reinstated are required to complete a mid-term Self Evaluation for each class. Students need to make an appointment with a counselor or advisor at mid-term time and present the completed self evaluation forms. Please allow time to give the self evaluation forms to your instructors to complete. You will not be able to participate in early registration for the following term, if you do not meet your mid-term advising date.

Future registration/enrollment at NHCC is prevented for suspended students who fail to meet the expectations of the BTAS program.
