Prior to Applying
- Complete a Nursing Information Session - This will help you make informed decisions in your preparation for applying to the program. Nursing information sessions are hosted by the Health Careers Advisor on a regular basis throughout the year as well as available online.
- Become a student at NHCC! Applicants are required to first apply to the college.
- Take the ACCUPLACER assessment (see Nursing Application Requirements for more details).
- Study and work hard to achieve the best grades you can in the prerequisites and general education courses.
Complete the Nursing Program Application
- Nursing applications can be downloaded from the Nursing Home Page starting in October each year.
- Applicants with general education course requirements in progress during the fall semester should wait to submit the nursing application until all fall semester grades have been recorded on an official transcript.
- A copy of your Accuplacer assessment results must be submitted with your nursing application (even if you have taken your assessments here at NHCC). You can obtain a copy of your test results at the Testing Center.
- You will also be required to submit official transcripts if they are not already on-file at NHCC.
Submit Application
- Applications are due at the Admissions & Outreach Department by the deadline (check application for the specific deadline).
- A confirmation postcard will be sent by Admissions and Outreach to verify that your application was received.
- Mailed applications must be postmarked by deadline and sent to North Hennepin Community College, Admissions & Outreach, 7411 85th Ave. N., Brooklyn Park, MN 55445.
- Applications submitted in person must be completed and submitted by 6:30pm the day of the deadline.
Admissions Decision Letters
- Decision letters will be mailed by the beginning of May each year. Decisions are not available by phone or in person.
- Accepted: Students accepted into the program will need to follow the confirmation instructions in the admissions decision letter.
- Denied: Students who are not accepted into the Nursing Program may want to improve their qualifications and reapply for a future year. Students are encouraged to meet with the Health Careers Advisor (after attending a Nursing Information Session) to discuss goals for the following year.
