The criteria below are used to evaluate each applicant to decide who will be accepted into the program each year. The criteria are listed in order of relative importance. As indicated by the top two criteria listed below, it is to the student’s advantage to complete general education courses required in the nursing program prior to applying.

Number of required biology courses completed and grades achieved at the time of application.
(required biology courses include: BIOL 1001, BIOL 2100, BIOL 2111, BIOL 2112)

Number of required general education non-science courses completed and grades achieved at the time of application.
(required non-science courses include: ENGL 1201, PSYC 1150, SPCH 1110, SOC 1110, 3 credits of Goal 6 Elective)

Overall academic performance including:
- Age of Coursework (there will be a deduction on required courses that were taken 7 or more years ago)
- Repeated Classes (there will be a deduction for repeating a required course)
- Consistency of academic performance/overall academic record

Coursework completed at North Hennepin Community College is in the students favor.

Mobility Option Only - The applicant’s academic performance in their Practical Nursing program will be an additional criteria used in the selection of students applying for the Mobility Option.
