Complete a background Check:  Minnesota law requires that any person who provides services that involve direct contact with patients and residents at a health facility licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health must have a background study conducted by the state.  Any individual who is disqualified from having direct patient contact as a result of the background study, and whose disqualification is not set aside by the Commission of Health, will not be permitted to participate in a clinical placement in a Minnesota licensed health care facility.  Failure to participate in a clinical placement required by the academic program could result in ineligibility to qualify for a degree in this program.

An essential component of our nursing program is the care of patients/clients in clinical settings.  To provide this experience the college contracts with local clinical facilities.  All clinical facilities require that students are immunized against certain diseases, have a Mantoux test and CPR certification completed.  A clinical agency may refuse student participation in clinical experiences at their facility if a student is not immunized; have a Mantoux test and CPR certification.  Students who are unable to meet these clinical requirements will not be allowed to progress into the nursing program.
