North Hennepin Community College was the first Graphic Design Program in the state to use Macintosh computers. Today we have a state-of-the-art Macintosh Computer Lab with high resolution scanners, film scanners, color printers and the latest in software design programs so our students gain a thorough knowledge of software use and application in their studies.

The Mac Lab is used primarily by graphic design and art students to complete projects in design, web graphics, web animation, drawing and photography.
The 28 Macintosh computers are state-of-the-art with enough memory to complete the most complicated projects and include the following software programs:
- DreamWeaver
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Macromedia Flash
- Macromedia Freehand
- Photoshop
- QuarkXpress
Although graphic design and art classes are taught in the Mac Lab, it is an open computer lab for NHCC students who are more familiar with Macintosh hardware.
The Mac Lab features a variety of computers to accommodate all printing needs for black and white and color printing.
