North Hennepin Community College offers a Building Inspection Technology Core certificate, as well as a Building Permit Vocational certificate.

The Building Inspection Technology Core certificate provides core classes with foundational concepts for building inspectors in the BIT curriculum. These classes help prepare students for the Minnesota State Building Official examination.

The Building Permit Technician Vocational Certification is designed to enhance the competencies of the present permit clerks or technicians, to prepare persons fort the national certification examination as building permit technicians, and to provide certain knowledge of building code, zoning codes, permit processes, legal aspects, customer service and standards of building, to prepare for a career as a building permit technician.
