North Hennepin Community College now offers a Certificate in American Sign Language (ASL). The ASL program program provides training for students who wish to learn basic American Sign Language and understand Deaf Culture. Upon completion of this program, a student will be able to communicate with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people at a basic level in various settings including health care, churches, court rooms, schools, and anywhere a deaf person might need assistance. Students who earn this certificate may choose to continue their studies in an Interpreter Program for ASL.
