Online Learning

Definitions

"Online/Internet" Courses

  • A class that is delivered on the web. An instructor may meet the students face-to-face for an initial session; testing may be at a proctored site but proctoring is listed in the class schedule. The material covered is equivalent to normal full-time classroom delivery for the same number of credits. A student can expect to spend 8-15 or more hours each week per 3 or 4 credit course working in the electronic courseroom or on assignments. These are not self-paced and are instructor lead courses. Students are expected to have access to the internet or to use the on-campus computer labs to complete the course.

"Web Enhanced" Courses

  • A class in which students use the web for course material, discussions, projects, assignments, and more.  The amount of seat time in the classroom is reduced. Weekly classroom meeting time is replaced with online courseroom material that is equivalent to normal full-time class delivery work for the same number of credits. Web-enhanced is also known as hybrid classes. Check the class schedule for class meeting day(s) and times.

"Web Supplemented" Courses

  • A class in which the instructor uses the web as an additional resource for students. Student seat time is not reduced.
