It has been an eventful spring at North Hennepin Community College with all sorts of activities hosted by the Student Life office, its committee and student clubs and organizations, along with the support of the Diversity Council, Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism, Recreational Sports, and other employees.

Student Life and the Diversity Council kicked off the semester by sponsoring a Martin Luther King Day concert that featured NHCC’s own Chamber Singers, the Voices of Inspiration choir, and Grammy-nominated and Stella Award-winning gospel group, Excelsior. Recently, the Veterans Student Association and the Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism organized a Student Stress Relief Day that included a fun bean bag toss, a challenging rock-climbing wall, the latest military Humvee for people to check out, and an entertaining drag show. Throughout the semester, Student Life holds a number of events making NHCC one of the most vibrant, diverse, and welcoming campuses in the state.

Student Life commends its members for supporting these types of events toward the end of the academic year. This year, more than 250 students were recognized for their exemplary leadership, generous volunteerism, and/or academic excellence. In addition, some of the most active, passionate and talented students, faculty and staff were honored including:
-
Carol LaFleur – Student of the Year Award
-
Student Volunteer Club – Student Club of the Year Award
-
Robert Hansen, sociology – Faculty of the Year Award
-
