North Hennepin Community College’s Frank Schreiber and Joseph Gazzuolo memorial awards were presented to Tomi McLellan and James Penfield, respectively. Both artists received an honorarium of $100 for their works, which will also be displayed at the Minnesota State Fair art exhibit through Labor Day weekend.
McLellan’s pastel drawing, Standing Nude, received the Frank Schreiber award, which was presented by his wife Robin. The drawing reminded Robin of Frank’s own concern with the depiction of human form.
Penfield’s oil/acrylic/mixed media piece, Instinct, received the Joseph Gazzuolo award, which was presented by his wife Edith. The image reminded Edith of Joseph’s spirit of form and color.
