High School
The Cornerstones High School Program is an exciting college-preparation opportunity for promising high school students. NHCC's goal is to help students learn in high school, as well as prepare them for college. Students will have opportunities for social development, academic enrichment, and leadership.
Services include:
- Learning how to apply for financial aid and scholarships
- College tours
- Field trips
- Tutoring and mentorships after school
- Study and test taking skills development
- Career assessment and advising
- Assistance with researching, selecting, and applying for colleges
Junior High School
The Cornerstones Junior High Program supports the development of college readiness skills; fosters relationships between students and NHCC; provides skill assessments that will help students plan for college; and encourages holistic development for academic and social success. NHCC strives to cultivate student success academically, socially, and personally. Students will have field trips, perform community service activities, and participate in workshops on college readiness and career planning. We provide after-school tutoring at local schools.
Summer Programs
Juniors: 7th, 8th, and 9th grades
The Cornerstones Junior Summer Program is a free, three-week program for 6th-10th grade students. Students will learn what college life is like, as they prepare for their futures. Classroom materials, breakfast and lunch, and transportation to and from NHCC from local schools are included. We cover math, science, English, and social studies in our project-based learning curriculum.'

Seniors: 10th-12th grade
The Cornerstones High School Program will offer intensive 6-8 week programs in the summer that will allow eligible students to earn up to six college credits free of charge! In addition to classroom activities, there will be field trips and visits to other colleges.
Transitions Program:
The Transitions Programs allows students graduating high school this June to complete their pre-college level coursework in the summer months so they can enter the fall semester at college level and begin their college coursework. Students eligible can apply for a grant to help offset the cost of attendance! The program will run from June 8 (Orientation Day) through August 3th of 2012.
Eligible students must:
- Complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA with 0 EFC (Expected Family Contribution)
- Test into appropriate classes (Adev 0952, English 0950)
- Complete all three applications: NHCC, Cornerstones and Transitions Grant.
- Apply to NHCC in a Degree Seeking Program
Science and Technology Program:
The Science and Technology Program will be held at NHCC from June 8th (Orientation Day) through August 3th and will include an intro to computer science course taught by Eric Level and a graphic design course taught by Jason Schoch. This program will be worth 6 college level credits and will come at no cost to the student other than the NHCC application fee.
Eligible students must:

Complete the Accuplacer placement exam and test college-level in reading.

Complete NHCC application and pay $20 Fee

Student must be currently enrolled in grades 10th or 11th in high school.
Art and Music Program:
The Art and Music Program will be held at NHCC from June 8th (Orientation Day) through August 3th and will include Theatre Instructor: Michael Ricci and Music Instructor: Karla Miller. This program will be worth 6 college level credits and will come at no cost to the student other than the NHCC application fee.
Eligible students must:
- Complete the Accuplacer placement exam and test college-level in reading.
- Complete NHCC application and pay $20 Fee
- Student must be currently enrolled in grades 10th or 11th in high school.
