Why NHCC

North Hennepin Community College creates opportunities for students to reach their academic goals, succeed in their chosen professions, and make a difference in the world. Our college is guided by values such as embracing diversity of all kinds, encouraging creativity and innovation, and fostering trust and respect on campus.

Benefits of attending North Hennepin include access to:

Quality Programs

Educational options at NHCC include transfer degrees, career-focused programs, and short training certificates. NHCC is regionally accredited, so credits transfer easily into most bachelor's degree programs, including partner universities located on campus.

Low Tuition Cost and Financial Aid Assistance

NHCC has one of the lowest tuition rates in the state and awards more than $41 million in financial aid each year through grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans. Tuition is less expensive at NHCC than at private and public four-year universities.

Flexible Scheduling

Most NHCC students earn a degree while balancing work and family responsibilities, so we offer classes in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Classes can be taken on-campus or online, in hybrid or accelerated formats, and off-campus at our Buffalo location. See our class schedule for more details.

Helpful Faculty, Staff, and Resources

Our faculty are highly credentialed with years of industry experience, have a passion for teaching, and care about your academic success. Counselors and advisors provide resources to help students succeed with their educational, career, and personal goals. Available resources include FREE tutoring, career planning, academic advising, disability access services, and veterans resources.

Modern Campus and Facilities

NHCC is one of the largest, most diverse community colleges in Minnesota. On campus you'll find state-of-the-art facilities, including a recently expanded Center for Business and Technology providing the latest in multimedia technology and a new Bioscience and Health Career Center that will open in Fall 2014.

Opportunities to Get Involved

There are many opportunities to get involved, such as student clubs and organizations, recreational sports, performing and visual arts, and study abroad options. Also, NHCC is one of the few community colleges in the country that offers undergraduate research.
