The Graphic Design Program at North Hennepin Community College is the third oldest program of those offered in accredited colleges in the Twin Cities.
It is a traditional design program that teaches students to visualize concepts, solve problems and skillfully design projects. Our students graduate with advanced design skills an ability for problem solving that make them very popular with employers in the design field.
Many of our students are referred to us by design firms because they have either graduated from our program themselves or they have hired our graduates and have been impressed with their abilities.
Students graduating from the Graphic Design Program receive an Associate in Science Degree. Graduates may enter the work force upon completion of the program; however, a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is invaluable in today’s competitive market.
North Hennepin Community College was the first Graphic Design Program in the state to use Macintosh computers. Today we have a state-of-the-art Macintosh Computer Lab with high resolution scanners, film scanners, color printers and the latest in software design programs so our students gain a thorough knowledge of software use and application in their studies.
The Art Department also offers complete technical facilities that are highly professional and include:
- Photography lab with film developing room, printing room, black and white enlarger stations, color lab, digital photography stations and digital photographic printers.
