Scholarship thanks

Following are a few examples of the thank you letters written by scholarship recipients:

Dear Scholarship Donors:

I am writing to express my gratitude for the contribution you have made in order to make my scholarship possible. There are no words to describe how grateful I am to have the honor of being awarded such a gift. This award will make attending school this semester much less of a burden for my family and I. Your generosity in giving your hard earned money to assist individuals like myself in furthering their education and ultimately their life is unbelievable.

I will make the most of this wonderful opportunity by excelling in school my last semester, spreading enthusiasm about my profession and by volunteering for fund-raisers that will give future students the same chance.

It is a nice feeling to know that individuals like you are in the world - offering donations to those with a passion for education and their profession. I cannot give enough thanks for what this award means to my education and my future.

Thank you for all you have done.

Sincerely,

J.W.

Dear Donors,

I am very pleased to write this letter to thank you for the Scholarship which was given to me. This money is very helpful for my economic balance and also to keep me motivated in the process of achieving my academic goals. I am very happy in knowing that there are always people or organizations who want to help students like me to get a degree.

My life history is full of difficulties, challenges, and blessings. I was born in the southern part of Brazil, in the state of Parana. When I was a baby my family moved to Paraguay, a very remote zone far away from a developed region with no access to good schools, hospitals, or even electricity. At the time, the news came from a small radio. Letters, and other source of information, like TV, magazines, or even newspapers, were far away from our reality. But besides the adverse conditions my parents worked very hard trying to build a farm that could feed, dress and educate four children.

When I was 13 years old, I moved to Brazil by myself looking for better conditions of education, health assistance and life quality. I worked as a house keeper and babysitter during 6 years while I finish my primary and high school. After that I had been accepted in the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brazil to start the Language and Literature course. At that time I got married to my husband whom was taking a Master degree in Soil Science. When he finished his career we movede to the Northern Part of Brazil for his job and I started working in the National Institute of Geography and Statistics. My function was to do research on people and families around the state, visiting, interviewing, and taking information. During this period I started a math course in the Federal University of Rondonia, but because the necessity of moving to the US because a PhD offer to my husband, I was not able to finish my degree in math.

Now, NHCC gave me another opportunity to get a degree in the carrier that I always wanted, the nursing course. My feeling from my childhood and all the health issues that I have seen in my life under described conditions developed me a powerful necessity to study nursing.

However, living with an assistantship that my husband receives is difficult for us to keep the financial obligations. The scholarship I received this semester is going to be really helpful in our budget. For that I really appreciate and say thank you very much. We hope that I can finish my degree besides the difficulties that we have had and in the future help people as well as I need help now.

Sincerely,

S.A.

Dear Scholarship Donor,

I am honored to be named the recipient of the Riverview Community Bank Scholarship. It is a tremendous honor to me and I feel extremely privileged. Especially taking the time out of your busy day, to read my essay and select me as the recipient of your scholarship.

This will assist me with my continued education and ultimate goal of becoming a lawyer for those voices whom are yet afraid to be heard.

I have always prayed for someone to recognize the potential within me. And now my prayers are being answered.

I look forward to meeting with you and thanking you in person at the scholarship luncheon.

Thank you and God bless you.

Dear Scholarship Donor,

Thank you very much for your contribution to the NHCC foundation. I am a recipient of the International Student Scholarship 2006-2007 and grateful for your contribution towards my education at the North Hennepin Community College.

I am from Kenya, East Africa and pursuing an RN associate degree leading to bachelors and beyond thereafter. I attended both primary and high school in Kenya and on successfully completing my course felt the urge to go for my dreams. I've always wanted to be a nurse, especially care for children with whom I have a soft spot for in my heart. While back home, the health sector was not all that desirable and dependable and not much has changed to date. I've always been ambitious and stongly believe that with a good education and diverse experience, I contribute my best to the system and set an example for others who will hopefully do the same and even more to get the desired change.

I applied to study for my nursing degree in the United States, known for the good institutions in health care training. I was accepted to a private college, where I did my first semester but due to financial strain, I had to find a less costly college that offers an education that is just as good. NHCC was my first choice and I was fortunately accepted. Even though it would cost me way less than before, my parents and a sponsor who were my main source of income had their finances strained. I have siblings who desire to get as far as their big sister has. Something I am proud of. The sponsor pulled out and all that I had left were my parents who could not possibly chip in all the way. Due to the state regulations, I have not been able to secure myself a job but hope that I will in the near future.

This scholarship therefore means a great deal to me. It has moved me a step ahead and the best I can do for me and all who support me is do my best at school which is the reason for my being here. I believe that when all is done I too will have the opportunity to serve others as you are. Thank you once again and God bless you abundantly for the wonderful gesture.

Sincerely,

O.L.

I am writing this letter to thank you for your wonderful contribution. I am so anxious to begin my future education with North Hennepin Community College, and this scholarship was icing on the cake. My family and I are so incredibly grateful for all those who make scholarships a possibility. To be honest with you a college education wasn't really an option for me until very recently. I signed up for classes with absolutely no idea as to how I was going to pay for it, and receiving that letter lifted an incredibly heavy weight off my chest. On behalf of all those who struggle I am thanking you for keeping us in mind. Your time, effort and donations are truly appreciated. Once again I want to thank you for providing me with the financial assistance I needed to help start me on the road to a college degree. This is a dream of mine that you have helped make a reality.

Sincerely,

Dear Scholarship Donor,

Thank you very much for your contribution to the 2006/2007 North Hennepin Community College Foundation. I am a recipient of the A.S. Mathematics Annual Scholarship.

I am an international student from Nigeria. I attended Kabe High School, where I was an active member of Nigerian Mathematical Society and Junior Engineering Technology Society (JETS). Much of the influence I received towards engineering and the sciences came from the activities I took part in as a member of these two clubs and from my high school math and science teachers. My math teacher encouraged me to become an engineer.

When I arrived at NHCC, I chose Pre-Engineering because I was very interested in science courses. I wanted to combine this love of mathematics and physics with my interest in engineering and problem solving.

I am now a junior in Pre-Engineering at NHCC. While at NHCC, I have been a member of several engineering societies, including National Society of Black Engineers, and Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers. I will graduate in the fall of 2007 with an associate degree, but I would like to continue my education at the University of Minnesota. I hope to receive my PhD in Software and Bioelectrical Engineering with an interest in medical science. Someday I would like to be able to use the education I received at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC) to design and operate medical devices.

I really appreciate your generous scholarship support. I has helped me greatly by allowing me to concentrate more on school work without having to worry about finances.

I would not be as far along in my education without your support. I would have had to take several jobs to support myself through college. Again, I am very thankful for your contribution.

Sincerely,

E.U.
